HCF launch new customer focused health insurance calculator
To coincide with the launch of a range of new products, HCF requested Hothouse to design and build them a new more user focused quick-quote calculator.
The new calculator allows potential customers to toggle various radio button options and compare the savings and reduced costs gained by selecting various ‘excess’ and ’savings’ options.
Because the calculator reaches back into the HCF DB2 mainframe security is paramount. Hothouse developed a service that builds a sample product price matrix locally, which the users interrogate with the calculator. This allowed Hothouse to develop a smooth interactive experience for customers. Their selections display rapid responses for comparison without the overhead of deep queries into the main service.
When a customer has decided on an appropriate combination of products the calculator obtain a final quote from the mainframe service. The customer can then purchase the product using an integrated NAB real-time e-commerce system.
Hothouse worked closely with HCF to map out the content and process flow to ensure all the stakeholders understood the constraints and policies involved. This evolved into a fully functional wire-frame prototype used to proof the usability and underlying technologies. Once all the use cases were tested against the mainframe to ensure the calculations were correct, we refined the copy and integrated the service into the look and feel of the HCF web site.
